چکیده

ABSTRACT Background Observational studies on the association of endourological procedures with renal parenchymal damage are lacking. This randomized trial examined effect standard percutaneous nephrolithotomy (sPCNL) in comparison miniaturized-PCNL (mini-PCNL) and retrograde intrarenal surgery (RIRS) for nephrolithiasis treatment novel biomarkers injury. Methods Seventy-five patients were a 1:1:1 ratio to receive sPCNL, mini-PCNL RIRS nephrolithiasis. The ratios neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin (NGAL), kidney injury molecule-1 (KIM-1) interleukin-18 (IL-18) normalized urinary creatinine (Cr) calculated from urine samples collected at baseline (2-h preoperatively) 2-, 6-, 24- 48-h postoperatively. Two-way mixed analysis variance (ANOVA) repeated measurements was used evaluate effects type procedure time studied biomarkers. Results Between 2-h postoperatively, no significant differences observed NGAL/Cr changes between sPCNL [median (interquartile range) 9.46 (4.82–14.9)], [12.78 (1.69–25.24)] [6.42 (2.61–23.90)] (P = .902). Similarly, between-group KIM-1/Cr .853) IL-18 .980) 2 h, all any time-point Within-groups, increases noted (sPCNL, P < .001; mini-PCNL, RIRS, .001), IL-18/Cr h; progressively lower groups As such, but not evidenced two-way ANOVA. No acute incidence complications. Conclusions under study associated similar patterns early tubular injury, detected by biomarkers, which is largely reduced within 48 h glomerular function.

Comparison of totally tubeless percutaneous nephrolithotomy and standard percutaneous nephrolithotomy for kidney stones: a randomized, clinical trial.

This study aimed to compare the totally tubeless percutaneous nephrolithotomy and standard percutaneous nephrolithotomy techniques regarding their rates of success and complications in patients with kidney stones. Patients were randomly assigned to two groups. Forty-four patients (24 men; mean age: 50.40±2.02 years) received totally tubeless percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL; no nephrostomy ca...

Clinical efficacy of percutaneous nephrolithotomy versus retrograde intrarenal surgery for pediatric kidney urolithiasis

BACKGROUND Percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) and retrograde intrarenal surgery (RIRS) are widely used for pediatric upper tract stones; however, comparisons of their clinical efficacies are needed. METHODS Literature searches for relevant articles were performed using PubMed, the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, Embase and the China CNKI database. Study quality was assessed b...

Renal Vein Injury During Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy Procedure

Background: Percutaneous nephrostolithotomy is an important approach for removing kidney stones. Puncturing and dilatation are two mandatory steps in percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL). Uncommonly, during dilatation, the dilators can cause direct injury to the main renal vein or to their tributaries. Case Presentation: A 75-year-old female underwent PCNL for partial staghorn stone in the left ...

Percutaneous nephrolithotomy versus retrograde intrarenal surgery: a systematic review and meta-analysis.

CONTEXT Recent advances in technology have led to the implementation of mini- and micro-percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) as well as retrograde intrarenal surgery (RIRS) in the management of kidney stones. OBJECTIVE To provide a systematic review and meta-analysis of studies comparing RIRS with PCNL techniques for the treatment of kidney stones. EVIDENCE ACQUISITION A systematic literatur...

Re: Percutaneous nephrolithotomy with and without retrograde pyelography: a randomized clinical trial.

St. Mark’s electrode used in the study has the distance between the stimuli and recording sites known in a region of difficult access for measuring. This would become the method more standardized and appropriate for pelvic floor, besides probably causing less discomfort than the transmuscular perineal route. These alternative methods for PNTML assessment might be useful in routine practice, mai...
